Munnar Honeymoon Resorts by Budget: How to Choose the Right Stay
How to choose a Munnar honeymoon resort: best locations, budget to luxury options, pool villas, jacuzzi suites and what each adds to your package.
Munnar has hundreds of hotels and resorts, from simple town hotels to luxurious pool villas perched above the tea gardens. For a honeymoon, the right resort matters more here than anywhere else in Kerala, because you will spend your cool evenings and misty mornings in it. This guide explains how to choose a Munnar honeymoon resort at every budget, with examples of the stays we use on our honeymoon packages.
First, choose the right location
Where your resort is in Munnar affects views, quiet and driving time.
- Munnar town: convenient for shops and restaurants, but busier and with fewer views. Not ideal for a honeymoon.
- Chinnakanal and Anachal: around 20 to 30 minutes from town, with valley views and many honeymoon resorts. A popular choice.
- Pallivasal and Chithirapuram: on the way into Munnar from Kochi, with tea garden views and quieter surroundings.
- Further out (towards Suryanelli or Top Station): very scenic and secluded, but longer drives for sightseeing.
For most couples, a resort 15 to 30 minutes outside town gives the best balance of views, peace and easy sightseeing.
Budget: comfortable and good value
What to expect: clean, comfortable rooms with a balcony or sit-out, breakfast included, and good views from many rooms.
Example: Forest Haven in Munnar, which features on our standard Kerala packages.
Best for: couples who plan to spend most of the day sightseeing and want to save their budget for the houseboat or a special stay elsewhere.
Tip: ask for a valley-view or plantation-view room. It costs a little more but makes a big difference.
Mid-range: honeymoon cottages and resorts
What to expect: standalone cottages or larger rooms with better views, a restaurant on site, and often a pool or spa.
Example: Mountain Club Resort in Munnar, whose deluxe cottages are part of our tree house honeymoon package.
Best for: most honeymoon couples. You get privacy and a romantic setting without paying luxury prices.
Premium: jacuzzi suites
What to expect: spacious suites with a private jacuzzi, upgraded interiors, and often dinner included.
Example: Elixir Hills in Munnar, where we book jacuzzi suites for honeymoon couples.
Best for: winter honeymoons (November to February), when the evenings are cold and a hot tub with a view is pure magic.
Luxury: private pool villas
What to expect: your own villa with a private pool, usually overlooking the valley, with premium service and dining.
Example: the Aranya private pool villas at Ragamaya Resort, which are part of our special-stay honeymoon options.
Best for: couples who want one unforgettable night. Even one night in a pool villa, combined with a standard room for the second night, transforms the trip.
Unique: treehouses and plantation bungalows
For something different, Munnar and its surroundings also have treehouses built high in the trees, and old planters’ bungalows with fireplaces and colonial charm. They suit couples who want character and quiet over resort facilities. See our 4-day Kerala tree house honeymoon.
How much does each level add to your package?
| Stay type | Typical 4-day honeymoon price per couple (without flights) |
|---|---|
| Deluxe cottage | From about ₹39,000 |
| Private pool villa (one night) plus deluxe room | About ₹44,500 |
| Deluxe suite plus one night in a jacuzzi suite | About ₹47,000 |
These are based on our current 4-day honeymoon options, which include two nights in Munnar, a private glass-covered houseboat night with candlelight dinner and flower-bed decoration, and a private car. Prices vary by season.
Questions to ask before booking a Munnar resort
- Does the room have a view, and of what: valley, tea garden or forest?
- How far is it from the main sightseeing spots?
- Is the access road in good condition? Some scenic resorts have steep or rough final stretches.
- Is heating or a heater available in winter?
- Is dinner included, and are there restaurants nearby?
- Can they arrange honeymoon decoration or a cake?
Our recommendation
If your budget allows only one upgrade on your Kerala honeymoon, spend it in Munnar. A cottage or suite with a view, or one night in a pool villa, will shape your memories of the whole trip.
Frequently asked questions
How many nights should we stay in Munnar?
Two nights is ideal for most honeymoons, giving you one full day for sightseeing and one relaxed evening at your resort.
Is a pool villa worth it in winter?
Pool water can feel cold on winter mornings, but the views and privacy are still special. If you mainly want warmth, choose a jacuzzi suite for December and January.
